I started out in Telecomms doing a year with VSO in Laos, teaching and maintaining a provincial radio station. Returning to the UK I worked in industry designing defibrillators and cardiac monitors. I thought I would like a spell in Academia, so studied for a PhD at St Bart’s hospital in London. The principal outcome of my research was the development of ‘radio pills’ – tiny devices used to monitor health parameters internally - and went on to run a small company manufacturing them. Subsequently I became a senior lecturer at Middlesex University teaching electronics, data communications and project management. I live in Little Chalfont overlooking Westwood Park, have two grown-up daughters, and joined Cu3a in 2024. I play badminton and pickleball fairly regularly and look forward to joining more Cu3a groups.
