Writing for Fun is a friendly and supportive
group, organised by its members. We meet on the first Thursday every
month in the Pottery Room, from 14.00 - 16.00.
We
creatively write on various themes, with ideas suggested by members of the
group. Most of the time our written pieces are prepared at home prior to the
next meeting, but sometimes the writing is actually done while together in the
group session. Our compositions are usually about 600 words in length.
The
monthly themes can be expressed as short stories, dialogues, diaries, poems or even
a journal. The works are read out and discussed at the monthly meetings. We explore different genres of creative writing, such as fiction, autobiography, drama, life experiences and memoir.
No previous creative writing experience is necessary, only a
desire to write and enjoy the fun of it. However, we limit the membership
to 12 as the reading of each member's work fills the two hours.
The group is currently full. We operate a waiting list when the group is full. Please do contact the convenors if you wish to be considered for membership in the
existing group or if you wish to consider joining the start-up of a
potential new Cu3a Writing for Fun 2 group once the waiting list gets to a
critical mass size.
