The Philosophy Group studies Western philosophy from its origins in ancient Greece through to contemporary thinkers. We examine the ideas of major philosophers, explore key schools of thought, and discuss enduring philosophical questions such as ethics, free will, objectivity, the philosophy of science. Our meetings are structured around presentations given by one or more members, interspered and followed by discussion in which different perspectives are shared and explored. The group brings together participants with a wide range of backgrounds, from those with formal philosophical education to those approaching philosophy out of personal interest. What unites us is a shared commitment to thoughtful inquiry, careful reasoning, and open dialogue. New members are always welcome.
