The Acoustic Guitar Group is for people who want to play and learn songs on acoustic guitar while having fun at the same time. The group meets monthly on the third Wednesday of the month at 13:30 - 16:30 in the Pottery Room.
The first hour is mainly for beginners and we have a tutor who supports the learning at various levels of ability. The cost of the tutor is split between members who attend the first hour. From 14:30 - 15:30 we have a blended hour with accomplished players covering simple songs and beginners joining in where they can. The last hour is for anyone to play more general songs including individual contributions and collaborations. Anyone can join in with these. We play acoustic songs from the 1950's onwards including more contemporary songs e.g. Hotel California, Brown Eyed Girl, Twist and Shout, High and Dry. Mainly we play songs from the genres of pop/rock/blues/country/folk.
Members suggest the music we learn and play together and we can obtain the music for most songs from the internet. You don't need to be able to read music and we will help anyone who can play a bit to get up to speed with the songs we play. We are looking to welcome new members to the group which is made up of people with mixed ability levels from almost beginners to people who have played for many years and been in bands.
