Wednesday, 6 August:

Warburg Nature Reserve – Contact Jill & Peter, e-mail:
A guided walk round the Warburg Nature Reserve which is one of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxford Wildlife Trust’s (BBOWT) flagship sites. This will include the many different plants and insects associated with chalk grasslands. We are particularly looking for the rare Purple Emperor and Silver Washed Fritillary as well as the Marbled White and others. Our guide will also point out many other interesting aspects of this Reserve. There is no charge but we will make a donation to BBOWT,  which will; be collected on the day. Meet at the Nature Reserve car park for the start at 10.00. The car park is not very large so car sharing may be appropriate. Turn off the B480 in Middle Assendon, (NW of Henley), OS map 171 GR 738859 down a narrow lane signposted to Bix Bottom. Follow his road for 2.2 miles and you will reach the Nature Reserve car park. Weather permitting we suggest a picnic since there is a small picnic area attached to the car park. There are toilet facilities on the site. If the weather is unsuitable we can make alternative arrangements on the day

Wednesday, 3 September:

Bottom Wood – Contact Sheila, e-mail:
A visit to the Chiltern Society’s Bottom Wood, in the hope of seeing “hazel” dormice, with John Stidworthy who oversees the project. The Reserve is not very large but it contains a wide variety of woodland plants and animals in addition to the population of dormice. Meet at the footpath leading away from the top of Old Dashwood Hill (marked on OS map 171 as Old Oxford Road) which runs parallel with the A40 between Piddington and Studley Green. Park on the roadside about 3½ miles from West Wycombe, Map ref. 796949, and aim to be there at 09.50 for a at 10.00 start. Map ref 796949. John Stidworth says the tour will take 90 minutes if there are any dormice, but perhaps only an hour if we are unlucky. He has chosen the date and the time as the most likely to be successful! Sheila will arrange a short stroll afterwards, followed by a pub lunch

Thursday, 2 October:
