Thursday, 5 August:  ‘Brian’s Annual Chess Valley Stride’ - 9/10 miles. Leader: Brian, email:
Please join me for my sixth annual stride to Sarratt. We’ve yet to keep to the same route but will endeavour to reach the usual pub (The Boot) for lunch. Shorts recommended but not mandatory. Please meet at the Westwood Park car park, off Chenies Avenue, Little Chalfont, OS Map 172, GR SU997981. Start time: 10.30.
Friday, 13 August:  'Cholesbury to Hughenden' - 10.5 miles. Leaders: Ruth & Jeremy. email:
This is an undulating, linear walk, part of a 55 mile circular trail. Park at the end of the walk near St Michael & All Angels church below Hughenden Manor, OS Map 172, GR SU862954. Some of the walkers will be asked to transport the others to the beginning of the walk (and vice versa), where we will park alongside Cholesbury Common. Start time: 09:30.

A pleasant walk through woods and fields to Bedmond and return. Please meet in the car park on the northeast edge of Chipperfield Common, OS Map 182, GR TL045015. Start time: 10:00.
Thursday, 26 August: 'A Walk with Plenty of Stile!' - approx 9.5 miles. Leaders: Vic and Brenda.  email: 
The walk starts in the quiet village of Chearsley and proceeds through Nether Winchendon and Upper Winchendon to Ashendon for lunch. An abundance of stiles and three hills make this walk seem longer than its 9.5 miles! The best approach is through Cuddington, exact location for parking and grid reference to be confirmed. Start time: 09:45.
Wednesday, 1 September: 'Waddesdon, A Wild and Lonely Place' best seen in the company of fellow striders - about 7.5 miles. Leaders: John & Veronica.  email: 
Starting and finishing at the The Lion public house in Central Downtown Waddesdon, this walk is largely on the level, with some stiles. The country here is very open and not much travelled. The modest post-lunch stretch involves some manageable gradients to burn off excess calories.. Park in the yard behind The Lion, which is on the right hand side of the A41 through the village, OS Map 181, GR SP745169. Arrive in time to order lunch. Coffee and biscuits will be available at the end of the walk if required. Start time: 10:15.

That's Wimbledon Park, Wimbledon Common, Richmond Park, Petersham Park, Old Deer Park and Syon Park. Only one gentle hill and no stiles. Assemble at Amersham Station in time to catch the 09:16 train.
Friday, 17 September:  'Commons and Canal' - approx 10-11 miles. Leaders: Liz and Adrian.  email: 
Starting in Berkhamsted, we will head over Berkhamsted Common, Ashridge and Pitstone Common before arriving in Aldbury for lunch. After lunch we head back over Aldbury Common and Northchurch Common for the final stretch along the Grand Union Canal. Park in St Johns Well Lane car park, OS Map 181, GR SP989080. Start time: 10:00.

A moderately hilly walk from Nettlebed to Bix and Maidensgrove with lunch at The Crown in Pishill returning through Russells Water and Cookley Green. Meet at Nettlebed, parking around the triangle opposite the Old Kiln and rain shelter, OS Map 171, GR SU701868. Start time 10:00.
Wednesday, 29 September:  'An American Connection' - approx 9 miles. Leaders: Mary and Glenys.  email: 
This attractive walk is centred round the straggling village of Penn and passes through some of the finest woods in the Chilterns. We start off through Penn Wood, Common Wood, down to Forty Green, then back through Penn and Winchmore Hill. The walk begins at the Church of Holy Trinity Car Park, Penn Street, where there is plenty of space for parking., OS Map 172, GR SU923962. Start time: 10:15.
Friday, 15 October: 'A Jan/Joy Jaunt' - approx 10.5 miles. Leaders: Janet and Joy.  email: 
This is a repeat of a previous walk - if you missed it last time, please join us, and if you have already walked it, join us again. This is a linear walk connecting Ivinghoe Beacon to the Chiltern Gateway Centre on Dunstable Downs. The walk embraces wildlife - static and live - rolling chalk hills, woodlands and downlands. Expect bracing conditions! We will all meet at the Chiltern Gateway Visitor Centre car park, OS Map 181, GR TL008198, and it will then be necessary for half of the cars to transport us all to the start of the walk. The remaining cars will be left at the Gateway Centre to be used at the end of the walk. There is a £1 charge for parking but it's free with a National Trust card/sticker. Start time: 09:45 sharp please. NB may be a fairly late finish.
Friday, 22 October: 'Coombe Hill - Dunsmore - Cadsden Ridge' - approx 10 miles. Leader: Mike.  email: 
Good views across Aylesbury Vale with at least 2 climbs. Park at the top of the hill in Coombe Hill car park, OS Map 181, GR SP852062. From Wendover, turn left at Butlers Cross; after half a mile, turn left again towards Dunsmore. Start time: 10:00.
Friday, 29 October:  'From Chess to Misbourne - the Chesham Bottoms!' - approx. 10 miles. Leader: Lesley.  email:  
Yes I have done this before but I have ordered better weather this time (please). There are some lovely views and a nice pub (Red Lion, Little Missenden). Meet at the free car park on Chesham Moor. Start time.10:00.
Friday, 5 November:  'A Bonfire Stride' - 11 miles. Leader: Nigel.  email: 
This is a local walk, starting in the Swillet then passing through Philipshill Wood and Chalfont St G. before looping round Pollards Wood and back to C. St G. for lunch at Merlins Cave. Afterwards it's back to the Swillet via Newlands Park. Please park in Bullsland Lane, OS Map 172 GR TQ018953. Start time: 09:30.
