| Provides access to all the various tools you will need to
work on your image - brushes, pencils, text, scissors, erasers, paint-pot,
copier, etc.
Place the cursor over each tool to get a description of that tool. Some tools have a number of variations (denoted by the small black triangle). Right click on the tool to get a list and to select the option.

Many of the tools have several options (such as the size of a brush, the opacity of the paint, zoom in or out). These options can be selected here.
Obviously, this bar will look different depending on which tool is selected.
The options are selected by different means including tick boxes, push buttons, drop down menus and sliders.
| You may not have all these palettes displayed but these are
the ones I find most useful.
The top palette shows the layers in your image (just one here). These will enable you to overlay various effects or even parts of different images, and come back to change them later. The Undo History palette lists the last 20 changes you made to your image. Clicking on any one of them takes you back to that point. At the bottom, the Histogram gives information to enable you to optimise the contrast of your picture. Other palettes (Info, How To, Color Swatches, Navigator) can be selected from the Windows menu. To keep them on the screen click on the 'MORE>' button and check 'Place in Palette Bin when closed'. |
