Digital Photography for Beginners

A short course for members and potential members of the Chiltern U3A Digital Imaging Group.

The following pages contain brief notes of the topics covered in our meetings.

Most of the images used are included here so that you can practice the techniques at home.  To keep download times short only small versions of the images are included on the main pages.  Double-click on the small one to obtain a full size version.  To copy it onto your computer right-click on the picture and select 'Save picture as . . . '

Some of the descriptions of how things work are not entirely accurate.  I have taken the liberty of giving descriptions which are simple to understand and should enable you to visualise how things work.  The actual technology is often much more complicated and there are often completely different ways of doing the same thing.  But you can start worrying about the differences when, and only when, you want to start writing your own software.

Access the notes on each session with the buttons below.  Within each session there are several pages - you can work through from beginning to end using the 'next' button at the foot of the page.
